Ultrasound CME Requirements

● Starting in 2026, ARDMS® Certified Sonographers need 25 ARDMS®-accepted CME credits every 3 years and must also complete the annual SKILLS Knowledge Confirmation requirement for each specialty they hold. The SKILLS requirement recognizes learning time equivalent to 5 CME credits, so the total maintenance expectation remains equivalent to 30 CME-equivalent credits per 3-year period: 25 CMEs + SKILLS = 30 CME-equivalent credits.

● RDMS®, RDCS®, and RVT® credential holders may select any CME courses from the ARDMS®-accepted ultrasound CME catalog based on their renewal needs.

● RMSKS® credential holders must complete at least 10 of the 25 CME credits in musculoskeletal-focused CME. The remaining CME credits may be completed with other ARDMS®-accepted CME courses.

● Echo Technologists: 25 credits are required for those certified by ARDMS®, and 36 CEUs are required for those certified by CCI®. In both cases, some employers or accredited echo labs may require 15 echo-specific CME credits.
